Libreng Lipad will showcase the opportunity to use an almost completely open source workflow to create basemaps from UAV surveys. It will start with tips on how to choose and establish ground control points (GCP) on the project site and in creating an optimal flight plan for the target area. A snapshot on how to process observed Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) data in RTKLIB will be presented using RTKPOST and GNSS orbit correction products from the United States’ National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
An overview of the orthophoto processing of the study area using the captured UAV images and GNSS observations as GCPs through Open Drone Map will also be shown. Finally, the project site map will be generated using QGIS and some sample information extraction, like line segmentation detection (i.e. road extraction) using OTB will also be demonstrated.
